Urbana, Ill. High School Auditorium Renovation

The Project consisted of renovating the existing almost 100-year-old 744 seat auditorium to not only meet the performance, presentation, and production requirements of modern educational programs but also return the audience chamber to some of its past historic history.

Services Rendered:          Plumbing, HVAC, Electrical and Fire Protection.

Project Features:

  • A complete assessment the existing building’s steam and electrical systems was required to see if adequate capacity in each system existed to serve the new remodeled space.
  • Variable air volume (VAV) reheat system with economizer designed to handle the latent heat load of the space.
  • Supply and return ductwork sound attenuators.
  • Converted existing steam heating system to hot water.
  • Special lighting fixtures.
  • Electrical hookups to specialized sound and lighting equipment.
  • "Summer" Boilers were added to allow central steam system to shut down during low load months, but still allow the hot water reheat system to function.
